Appendix

In this short appendix, I’ll cover two short topics. First, if you’re using a Mac, you might have a faded-looking render, so I’ll give you a few tips on fixing that. Next, I will share a few tips on continuing to learn how to use Blender.

Solving the Mac color issue

Since Mac computers handle color differently, when you export and save your render, it’s going to look more faded than it did in Blender. I struggled with this for years before finding this simple solution.

Here’s how to fix the problem:

  1. Right-click on the image file and choose Open With | Preview.
  2. Press Alt + Command + C to open the color controls.
  3. Raise the saturation slightly to restore color to the image.
  4. Raise the contrast slightly to remove the faded look.
  5. Finally, press Command + S to save your image.

It should now look much nicer.

What’s next?

If you’ve completed this book and done all the projects, you have a solid grasp of the basics of Blender. Maybe you’re wondering where to go from here—what to do next.

This is how to get better at using Blender.

I could provide a long list of tutorials here, but that’s not what tutorials are for. Tutorials teach you how to do a specific thing. They don’t show you how to improve at using Blender.

First, choose a project. Pick something you want to make in Blender. You’re going to give this project your best shot. You’re going to put all your effort into it and get the best result you can.

Now that you have a goal, you’re not going to give up on this project until you get there. First, open up Blender and try to do what you want. You’ll soon run into something you don’t know how to do.

That’s when you go look for a tutorial—when you have a problem to solve.
