In this chapter, we have seen how the power of the FIM engines allows you to manage users out-of-the-box. But as you might soon discover, some things require you to add some customization.
The important thing is to start off easy and not try to make the implementation too complex at once.
When managing users, you will need to decide early on where required unique attributes are to be created. I mean attributes such as AccountName, first-time password, and e-mail address.
In this chapter, we have also seen how easy it is to implement basic self-service using the FIM portal, allowing you to delegate some administration to the users themselves.
In the next chapter, we will extend this to groups and look at how FIM 2010 R2 can be used to enhance your group management.
