Color wheels in Final Cut Pro

The color wheel is one of the mainstays of selecting color on the Mac (Figure 14.7). Final Cut Pro uses a representation of the color wheel when you adjust Highlights, Midtones, and Shadows (Figure 14.7):

In addition to adjusting color, you can use the Final Cut Pro color wheels to adjust the saturation and brightness of a scene. By adjusting the saturation, you can make colors more vibrant or more muted. By adjusting the brightness, you can make a scene brighter or darker.

As previously explained in Chapter 10, The Inspector Controls, there are two sets of basic color tools in Final Cut Pro. You can set your preferred selection as the default in Settings | Preferences. You can change the choice and select all of the color control panels from the No Corrections chevron at the top left.
