Summary

In this chapter, you learned how to use the CharacterBody2D node to create arcade-style physics for player movement. This is a powerful node that can be used for a wide variety of game objects – not just platform characters.

You learned about the TileMap node for level design – a powerful tool with even more features than you used in this project. An entire chapter could be written on all of the different things you can do with it. Camera2D and ParallaxBackground are also key tools for any game where you want to move around in a world that’s bigger than the size of the screen. The camera node in particular will be a node that you’ll use in most 2D projects.
