Fabio Staiano is an experienced interface designer and Figma Community Advocate from Italy. After having been part of the creative agency Geko for several years, he later became a partner, creating digital products for well-known brands and running local events for the creative community. He then began his career in education in 2016, at The Guru Lab, teaching students about user interface and web design. In 2019, he decided to face new challenges by deepening his development skills at the Apple Developer Academy, where he specializes in frontend development and publishes various apps and boilerplate. Currently, he works as a consultant for IT projects and teaches at private design schools.

Exploring the toolbar

You'll start by exploring the top toolbar – this is where you'll find all of Figma's basic tools and settings. For the most commonly used basic tools, try to use right from the beginning as many shortcuts as possible because it will greatly improve your workflow.

Main tools

Figma divides its core tools into several sections, all of which you can see in the top bar. You will get an overview of all the sections in order, from left to right, and start by exploring the main set of features.

A – menu

The Figma logo in the upper left corner hides a significant drop-down menu that opens when you click on it:
