Chapter 5, Salesforce Order of Execution

  1. The case assignment rule wins. As we saw in the Salesforce platform Order Of Execution (OOE) section, Step 9 runs after Step 3 and this value shall be overwritten:
    • Step 3 executes before-save, record-triggered flows
    • Step 9 executes assignment rules
  2. Yes, for the most part, we can control flow execution. Salesforce Flow automation runs in the following order:
    1. Flows with the same trigger with values from 1 to 1,000 run in ascending order.
    2. Flows with the same trigger order value run in alphabetical order based on the flows’ API names.
    3. Flows that are unordered run next based on created dates.
    4. Flows with trigger order values from 1,001 to 2,000 run next and in ascending order.
  3. Learning this order ensures data consistency and helps avoid unexpected issues. When multiple automations such as workflows, assignment rules, escalation rules, and triggers are in place, it is crucial to know the sequence in which Salesforce processes these automations...
