Identifying potential automation steps

In the previous section, we checked various automation tools that are available in the Salesforce platform. With the right understanding of the Salesforce system, functional knowledge, and experience, you can perform miracles.

To enable this functionality in any IT system, we need to have the process understood and defined. Let’s briefly see what a process model is and why it is important to understand it. For details, check Chapter 4 of my book, The Salesforce Business Analyst Handbook.

Process models help us understand the current business processes “as-is,” and future desired “to-be” processes.

We start with creating a high-level draft model, iteratively developing, refining, and transforming it as permanent artifacts using the tool of your choice. I prefer to use the Visio tool to create a process flow and then socialize the Visio process flows in PDF format to stakeholders and get their feedback...
