UE's UI

When UE5 is launched, you will see a screen that looks like what's shown in the following screenshot.

Some menus are not visible by default, so we will have a look at them soon. But first, let's explore the six main UI regions:

To explain the UI, I have highlighted and numbered the six main UI regions in the default startup screen:

  1. Menu bar: Here, you will find drop-down menus for File, Edit, Window, Tools, Build, and Help.
  2. Toolbar: This menu has quick access to commonly used functions and allows you to switch to different modes. For the tutorials in this book, you will need the Create icon and the Cinematics icon. Inside the Select Mode drop-down menu, there is an Animation mode. For your projects, you may also need Landscape mode and Foliage mode, which can be found inside this drop-down menu.
