Professor Chris Piorkowski is an award-winning composer, with a Masters in Music Technology from the University of Newcastle in Australia, an MFA majoring in Music Composition for Film, TV and Multimedia from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, a Diploma in Media Composition from Music for The Media in London, and another Diploma in Sound Engineering from the Audio Institute of America in San Francisco. He has also studied Film Scoring and Orchestration at Berklee College of Music in Boston as well as Film Music Orchestration Steven Scott Smalley and Jazz Piano with Walter Norris. In his professional life, he has worked on countless projects at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles scoring over 50 projects for TBN, ShowTime, PBS, and Gene Roddenberry (the creator of Star Trek).

Reviewing visual synchronization tools

Before we begin the steps of synchronizing Logic Pro to picture, we will review a few visual tools that are helpful for synchronization.

Giant Time and Beats Display settings

The Giant Time and Beat Display are extra-large visual representations of the timecode and bar and beat numbers. Even though these numbers are listed on the LCD display, being able to see them enlarged helps to make the comparison with the BITC easier during the synchronization process.

To open the Giant Time Display, on the right side of the LCD display, click on the down arrow:

From the pop-up menu, click on Open Giant Time Display:

Logic Pro will open a floating Giant Time Display on the screen. The display can be resized or moved inside of the Arrange window, or it can also be dragged over to an extended monitor if you have one connected to...
