Two ways of using a movie clip as material


Being able to use a bitmap as a material is already pretty handy for a lot of situations. These materials are similar to the types available in 3D modeling software. But we're not working in a 3D modeling program, we're working in Flash. The main reason why the Flash player has become so popular is because of its ability to produce stunning, lightweight animations. From the beginning this has been something Flash has excelled at. More recently, the Flash platform has proved itself as being a good tool for building Rich Internet Applications (RIAs). Wouldn't it be nice if we could use those Flash strengths while building Papervision3D scenes, or if we could apply animations as our materials, or use RIA elements as materials?

Everything that you can make with a MovieClip can be used as a material using the MovieMaterial type. Essentially this works in much the same way as BitmapMaterial, although there are only two types of movie materials:
