Summary

Nearly 200 countries have agreed to sustainability goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Buildings are one of the largest sources of gas emissions and therefore they will be central to achieving sustainability and ESG goals. IoT and smart building technology will be required to monitor, manage, and integrate all buildings’ systems to reduce resource consumption and pollutants. ESG and sustainability frameworks help building stakeholders define, measure, and report progress toward their goals.

Sustainable and green buildings both focus on improving the planet. Sustainable buildings focus on the environmental, social, and economic impacts while the processes for green buildings are entirely focused on the environment. To help fund sustainable building projects, most governments around the world offer tax credits, grants, funding, and subsidies.
