ESG and smart buildings investments

In a sense, it’s the perfect storm coming together. Challenging economic conditions, a post-pandemic new-normal hybrid working model, increasing energy prices, and governmental tightening of energy regulations are forcing investments in IoT smart building solutions. New technology is being developed specifically to help building owners and operators meet ESG goals.

Building Management Systems (BMSs) use IoT technology to embed physical objects with sensors to become more energy-efficient and collect massive amounts of data to provide actionable insights. ESG and sustainability have become a high priority with a worldwide consensus that we need to achieve net-zero goals globally by 2050. These drive smart building investments and PwC estimates there will be an 84% increase in ESG-labeled investments by 2026.
