Current building systems

While the assessment methodologies outlined earlier will help you to determine your building’s current state of smartness, we recommend performing a complete inventory of all the systems within the building. This can be an exhaustive task, so we have developed the following list of possible systems to identify.

Each of these systems, individually, are candidates for the potential implementation of IoT sensors, controllers, and devices to make them smart or smarter; however, a holistic approach should be used, since a smart building project can benefit multiple systems, and integration of these systems is the ultimate smart building goal. For now, let’s identify as many of these systems as we can by breaking them into eight categories. Your building may have more or fewer systems, depending on its size and purpose.
