Social awareness


If you have a good social awareness, you can perceive emotional overtones in an organization, team, or interaction, even when these remain unspoken. You are able to read the play in a meeting, negotiation, or discussion and observe the non-verbal signals people give that indicate how they are feeling. These may include voice tone, facial expression, eye movement, head position, postural changes, speech characteristics, and breathing characteristics. You then have the option to respond in a meaningful and influential way.

What is social awareness?

Social awareness the ability to perceive and understand others' emotions and validate them.

Social awareness is being able to recognize relationships and structures in which you and those around you are operating within your organization or your social networks. Therefore, it is also known as awareness of other's emotions.
