How to conduct a successful telephonic interview


Planning is useless if it's not put into action. While preparing for an interview, a recruiter should never disregard the fact that the exclusive purpose of an interview is to get the maximum information out of the applicant and to ensure that most of it is true. Of course, a few things are cross-checked through references, but most of it can be derived by a cognitive analysis of the candidate's answers.

In a face-to-face interview, it is easier to catch lies and dig out information if the body language or the non-verbal communication does not support a candidate's words. In telephone interviews, without body language or facial expressions, it becomes all the more difficult. However, it can still be achieved to a great extent if a recruiter builds a rapport with the interviewee.
