Evaluating the mix

In general, before we can customize sounds, it is important to listen to each track separately, in the context of the entire mix or similar sounds. By listening to each track separately and in context, you can evaluate it and then determine what to do with each sound and how when you work on your projects. Mixing sounds, like composing music, can be very subjective, but we will go over a couple of examples of how sounds can be customized a little more.

Similar to Chapter 10, you will be guided step by step through examples of how sounds and instruments can be customized. Keep in mind that everything in this chapter is related to the score composed in Chapter 10, based on my preferences and choices. Since we’re going to review and cover the basic steps of editing and mixing instruments, it is important to follow and emulate each step in your DAW.

He has also studied Film Scoring and Orchestration at Berklee College of Music in Boston as well as Film Music Orchestration Steven Scott Smalley and Jazz Piano with Walter Norris. In his professional life, he has worked on countless projects at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles scoring over 50 projects for TBN, ShowTime, PBS, and Gene Roddenberry (the creator of Star Trek).
