Adding detail to the costume pieces

In this section, you will explore techniques for detailing the costume, using various brushes and tools. The goal is to create textures that enhance the realism and storytelling of your character and get the viewers’ attention. This includes capturing the surface structure of the respective material, as well as creating small imperfections, damage, and wear and tear.

Let’s take a look at the different materials present in the gladiator’s costume, and which tools and techniques you can use to get the most out of these assets.

Metal

The metal parts of the character design can be enhanced in several ways. For the rough metal of the gladiator’s armor, we focus on adding (ornamental) detail and adding damage.
