Diagrams come in all shapes and sizes. Some are very graphical versions of step-by-step instructions, others a literal drawing of network configurations, or general diagrams of complex topics. We'll create a simple diagram for a promotional piece for our fictional company Gigi's fun travel—4 Simple Steps to Prefect Travel.
I used simple Open Clip Art library graphics (http://www.openclipart.org) when creating this diagram and then customized their colors and shapes so it fits our design. You can do the same for simple graphics or create a completely custom look for your clients.
To create this diagram:
- Open a new document in Inkscape. From the main menu select File and select New and desktop_800x600.
- Using the Shift + Ctrl + N keyboard shortcut, create a new layer called Background.
- Select the new layer, then click the Rectangle tool in the Toolbar box and create a rectangle on your canvas. The rectangle should cover most of the canvas.
