Summary

In this chapter, you have learned about Quality of Service (QoS) and traffic shaping basics, how to create pipes, queues, and rules in the OPNsense webGUI, and how to test them. Now you can design a traffic shaping policy based on the network requirements and create rules to apply it using OPNsense features. In the next chapter, we will begin our exploration of the VPN world.

In this chapter, we learned about IPsec and OpenVPN, the pros and cons of each one, how to employ IPsec and OpenVPN to connect remote networks using a site-to-site approach, and how to use OpenVPN to connect remote users. We have explored the diagnostics tools OPNsense provides and some common issues you can face while using them. In the next chapter, we will learn about OPNsense's multi-WAN capabilities.
