Mastering anonymization
The privacy and security of data cannot be overstated in a world that is becoming more and more data-driven. Controlling who has access to data is a crucial component of data security, as we’ve already discussed. There are circumstances, though, in which sharing the data itself may be necessary for analytics, testing, or outside services. In these circumstances, merely restricting access is insufficient; the data must be transformed in a way that preserves its analytical value while protecting the identity of the individuals it represents.
