Adding social proof (FOMO)

Human beings are social creatures. If we see another person doing something, then we assume that it’s safe and maybe even beneficial for us to do that same thing. That’s why, when we see a whole group of people gathering, we want to see what they’re gathering around. We call this behavior social proof. And it’s something that we can also add to our website.

There are lots of types of social proof, including the following:

  • Product reviews
  • Followers on social media

But in this section, we’re going to talk about seeing other people doing the thing that you want them to do. If you visit the Fomo website (https://fomo.com), you’ll see the activity at the bottom of the site. You can see this in the following screenshot:

We can see that a real user was active on the site. That makes it much more likely for me to do that same...
