Using Swift Playgrounds on iPadOS

In 2016, Apple released an iPad-only app called Swift Playgrounds. Taken from the success of Playgrounds from Xcode, Swift Playgrounds for iPadOS went a step further and added an additional educational element to the app. In 2020, Apple also released a version for macOS, opening the doors for educational purposes and to those starting out who may feel a little intimidated by the Xcode IDE.

In this recipe, we'll take a look at how we can more easily replicate a recipe similar to that from Chapter 6, Building iOS Apps with Swift, straight on our iPad.

Getting ready

For this recipe, you'll need either an iPad running iOS 14.0 in order to download Swift Playgrounds from the App Store or alternatively, you can download the macOS version from the Mac App Store and follow along with this recipe too.

How to do it...
