Summary


Sometimes, a successful penetration test relies on having multiple options available as the need arises. OpenWrt, combined with embedded systems and Raspberry Pi, offers the tester a way to potentially hide their testing equipment in the target and run the majority of their test remotely. This can be a great way to deliver results without being forced to be the person in their car with a directional antenna pointed at the front of a building, arousing suspicion from passersby. Mobile device platforms add a new dimension to the wireless penetration test and can take advantage of the technology being integrated into today's smartphones and tablets. While restricted by their limited hardware platforms or usability, these devices can be a great tool in the toolbox for a wireless penetration tester.
