Quorum was conceived by J.P. Morgan, the world's biggest bank in terms of market capitalization, and is basically a private version of Ethereum, open source and supported by Ethereum's community. Quorum uses a management of confidentiality that Ethereum does not offer, enabling participants to decide whether their transactions should remain private or be displayed publicly. Quorum also integrates enhanced transactions and contract privacy, as well as better performance in general. Quorum has great potential to be massively adopted by banking actors and financial institutions to the point that J.P. Morgan is willing to manage this activity separately from its banking activity.
