This chapter was focused on making us aware of the Apache Solr enterprise search engine. We started with setting up Apache Solr, along with common problems and solutions, followed by the architecture and configuration of Apache Solr. We also looked at loading data in Apache Solr through different handlers. We explored how SolrJ can be used for interacting with Apache Solr. Now that we have a good understanding of Apache Hadoop and Apache Solr, the next step is to understand how to work with a distributed search with Apache Solr and Hadoop. In the next chapter, we will see how Apache Hadoop and Solr can complement each other.
