Creating with colors – colorizing

Colorizing an image involves a lot of work for the artistic team. As data scientists, we can assist them with a tool that allows us to paint easily while following their artistic direction. The tool we’re referring to is named Style2Paints, a semi-automatic method for colorization that can produce automatic results when there is no need for color correction. It also provides a functionality to provide hints to the tool for more customized results.

Hands-on Style2Paints

Once Style2Paints has been installed, the main page looks like what’s shown in Figure 9.1. There’s a color style column on the left-hand side and a color palette on the right:

This tool can be used with color and black-and-white images. Follow these steps:

  1. To upload an image for colorization, click on the symbol.
  2. Select the painting region of the image and click...
