Azure Service Lifecycle

New Azure services are introduced through preview services. The service lifecycle defines how each service introduced is made available and released for general use, known as general availability. Services are (unless an explicit service exception) not provided with an SLA or support during the preview.

The service lifecycle and access to services are as follows:

  • Development: Not available to the public
  • Private preview: Available only to a selected audience
  • Public preview: Available to all customers
  • General availability (GA): Available to all customers

Preview services are accessed from the Azure portal.

Note

You can get the latest updates on services and their statuses at https://packt.link/BpH8z.

The section discussed the service lifecycle in Azure. You will learn of Microsoft’s trusted cloud principles in the next section.
