Setting the default share link type
When users choose to share a file from their OneDrive with other people (whether internal or external to the organization and depending on what you've allowed external sharing), they're presented with a default share link type upon clicking Share. You can choose what kind of link is presented to the user by default to make it easier to make the most appropriate choice for your organization's sharing habits. In this recipe, we'll set the default share link type to Direct so that the link that is generated and sent to others can only be opened (and possibly modified) by the intended recipients.
Getting ready
You must be a global or SharePoint administrator to access the OneDrive admin center.
How to do it…
- Go to the OneDrive admin center at https://admin.onedrive.com.
- Click on Sharing in the left-side navigation menu.
- Change the radio button selection under Links to Direct: Specific people:
