Summary
In this chapter, we have learned to work with audio programming in the Pure Data environment. We understand how to playback an existing sound file and visualize its waveform. With the use of different oscillators, we can synthesize our own custom sounds. By using the software MIDI synthesizer, we can produce a sequence of musical notes within Pure Data. And finally, we can use a microphone as an interactive device to detect changes in sound volume in order to trigger visual feedback. In the next chapter, we investigate how to connect Pure Data with other external hardware devices.
