Implementing and managing sensitive info types using keywords, keyword lists, or regular expressions
Sensitive information types (commonly referred to in the Microsoft 365 (M365) interface as sensitive info types or SITs) are classification tools that are used to identify content based on patterns. A pattern can be anything from a simple list of words to formulas and complex expressions that determine whether a piece of content looks like a credit card number, a driver’s license number, a physical address, an access or security token, or any other pattern of letters, numerals, and words.
SITs are used across the M365 Purview space, including labels and data loss prevention policies. You can create custom sensitive information types to match organization-specific content, use built-in sensitive information type entities, or a combination of those.
