Summary

In this chapter, we discussed the main topics that concern database and table creation. We learned to manage databases, the objects which contain all the other data structures.

Then we learned to manage tables and the columns and indexes that they contain. While doing this, we discussed the various data types supported by MariaDB, as well as character sets and collations.

Finally, we learned how to create an SQL file for installing or upgrading a database.

Until now, we've only discussed data structures. We have not exhausted the topic yet, but we covered the main structures. In the next chapter, we will start working with data itself.
