Summary

This chapter takes many ideas discussed in Chapter 3 , P2P and Local Server, and uses them to create a remote control model car. We began by listing the various hardware components needed to build the model car, and then moved on to the schematic of the circuit. We created a P2P network using the VoodooSpark firmware. We then created an event-based program to listen for certain events of the keyboard and perform actions. We saw how other hardware sensors can be brought into the network using Cylon.js. This was demonstrated by adding a Leap Motion controller to the network, and using it to control the car with gestures. At the end of the chapter, we added the Electron to the model car project in order to make the setup completely mobile and local-network independent. We also saw how we can add code to implement cloud functions and expose them as APIs, which can be used to create custom client-side applications to control the model car.

In the next chapter, you'll learn all about Particle...
