Summary

In this chapter, we built a cloud-connected energy-monitoring device based on Arduino. We connected a current sensor and a Wi-Fi chip to Arduino and built a sketch that allowed data to be sent directly to the Xively platform. This way, the energy consumption data is continuously stored on Xively servers and can be monitored in real time.

So far, we used ready-to-use Arduino boards and modules. However, in the next chapter, we are going to learn the basics of how to build your own home automation devices based on Arduino.
