ISV, External, and other license types
Now that we have discussed licensing in D365 Finance and SCM, we need to review other types of potential licenses that will be used in the system. First off, we have Independent Software Vendor (ISV) licenses. When we are looking at integrating an ISV into D365, we will also need to understand how the licensing for that ISV will work. Each ISV is different, but generally, they use two types of licenses. First, they have a system license, which will license the use of the ISV in D365. Basically, this means you can install it and turn it on in the system. The second license will normally be a per-user license. Depending on the ISV, they implement both types of licenses for a deployment to be compliant.
