UX – view types
At the time of writing, 11 different types of views are available. Roughly speaking, view types are categorized into the following:
- Single-sheet-type views
- List-type views
- Other types
The single-sheet-type views are represented by views such as the detail and form view. The data in those views comes from a single record from the table. Next, the list-type views are represented by table, deck, and card, among others, where the view is used to present a set of records as a list. There are a few view types available that are categorized as other, such as dashboard and chart views.
As mentioned earlier, each view type has its own set of options that vary based on the view type you select. Let’s now dive into the details for each view type. While we are going through the next section, we will try to mention as many of the options as possible so that you are fully aware of what sort of options you will have with each view type.
