Summary
In this chapter, we looked at the DB2 database layer, the WebSphere MQ layer, and the Q replication layer that make up a Q replication solution. We introduced the terms Replication/Publication Queue Map, Q subscription, and subscription group and showed their relationship with each other. We then moved on to look at the internals of the Q Capture and Q Apply programs and finished with how they communicate.
Now that we have introduced the three layers which make up a Q replication environment, let’s move on to look at them in more detail in the following chapters. We will start with the DB2 database layer.
