Kubernetes is an open source system that is used to automate the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. Gigi makes it easy to understand the concepts behind containerization and how Kubernetes fits into that picture. I struggled previously with understanding all the new terminology and how all the pieces fit together in container orchestration. There's a lot of new terms and new concepts, but this book gave me a strong foundation. I recommend this book to complete newcomers to containerization as well as those with some knowledge, but no practical usage.

I liked the first edition of this book, which covered a lot of the Kubernetes features.This 2nd edition covers much more, it's up to date and still it's a really great book for people who just start with Kubernetes or those who have some experience and would like to update to the latest and greatest.5 stars, highly recommended!

The second edition of Mastering Kubernetes is a great book. It covers a large platform like Kubernetes in great detail and clarity and is up to date to the latest release (1.10). It introduces the design principles as well as deep dives into the most advanced topics like the CRI, CSI and extensibility.The organization of the material and the many code snippets make it easy to understand the current status of different capabilities and when it is appropriate to use them. I highly recommend it.
