As we know, Amazon RDS takes care of time consuming management tasks, such as provisioning and maintenance, freeing you to focus on your application and business. You still need to understand how RDS platform works and how best you can make use of it. In this chapter, we will learn how you can work with RDS platform using PowerShell and perform day-to-day activities. Though there are multiple database engines supported by the RDS platform, I will primarily make use of MySQL database engine to demonstrate the operational aspects of the platform in this chapter.
