December 2012 | Drupal, Open Source

Packt Publishing is pleased to announce its title on Drupal 7 this month, Migrating to Drupal 7, a new book and ebook packed with detailed instructions for migrating the readers content into the Drupal content management system. Written by Trevor James who has earlier written many books on this Drupal technology, this book focuses on helping readers to import content and data into Drupal 7 site.

Drupal is a free and open-source content management framework (CMF) written in PHP and distributed under the GNU General Public License.  It is used as a back-end system for at least 2.1% of all websites worldwide ranging from personal blogs to corporate, political, and government sites including whitehouse.gov and data.gov.uk. It is also used for knowledge management and business collaboration.

Migrating to Drupal 7 starts by collecting reader's current site's content and packaging it up into a CSV file so they can easily import it into Drupal and then build a content type to hold your migrated data and content. Furthermore, it will also give readers a brief introduction on importing content into Drupal using the Feeds module and also migrating module and its powerful features.

Using this book, users can easily migrate their Drupal 6 or WordPress site to Drupal 7 and also migrate blog posts from WordPress to Drupal. It will also help readers configure the Feeds Tamper module to preprocess the feeds imports and use helper modules to help run the upgrade faster and with less hassle.

Written in a friendly and engaging style, this book is for anyone who wants to easily move content from an existing website into the Drupal content management system. This book is available now in print, eBook, Kindle and select library formats and can be downloaded from the book page
