Explore, transform, validate, and integrate your data with ease using the new book from Packt

April 2010 | Java, Open Source

Pentaho 3.2 Data Integration: Beginner's Guide is a new book from Packt that is aimed at helping software developers, database administrators, and IT students learn Pentaho Data Integration from scratch. This book, written by María Carina Roldán, will encourage users to exploit powerful features of Data Integration and perform ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) operations with ease.

Pentaho Data Integration (PDI, also called Kettle) is the component of Pentaho responsible for the Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes. Though ETL tools are most frequently used in data warehouses environments, PDI can also be used for other purposes such as, migrating data between applications or databases, exporting data from databases to flat files, loading data massively into databases, Data cleansing, and integrating applications.

With this book, users will be able to create reports in PDF, Excel and HTML with Pentaho’s Reporting Suite and learn to present information effectively by adding charts, sub-reports and cross tabs in their reports. Apart from Pentaho’s report layout, data source support, and enterprise deployment, it will also teach its readers everything about Pentaho Report Designer, including a list of short-cut keys for quick report generation. Developers will also learn to build interactive Swing and HTML reports and how to embed them into their J2EE and client Java applications with relative ease. Building dynamic reports from scratch using Java Bean-based report generation API and easy-to- use XML will also be learnt from the book.

With plenty of easy-to-understand instructions, examples and screenshots, this book is ideal for Java developers and IT professionals who want to install or assemble custom reporting solutions with Pentaho Reporting. The book is out now and available from Packt. For more information, please visit: https://www.packtpub.com/pentaho-3-2- data-integration-beginners-guide/book
