Configure the GlassFish v2 application server using Packt's new book

April 2010 | Java, Open Source

Packt is pleased to announce GlassFish Administration, a new book that will help developers to install and configure GlassFish and integrate it with popular Open Source products such as Open MQ, Open DS, and Apache Active MQ. Written by Xuekun Kou, this book will help to configure resource types like JDBC, Java Connector Architecture (JCA), JavaMail Sessions, and Custom JNDI. Developers will also learn to secure, monitor, troubleshoot, and tune their application server instance.

GlassFish is a free, open source application server project led by Sun Microsystems for the Java EE platform. It is based on source code released by Sun and Oracle Corporation's TopLink persistence system and uses a derivative of Apache Tomcat as the servlet container for serving Web content, with an added component called Grizzly.

GlassFish Administration will help users gain the necessary skills to install, configure, tune, and troubleshoot GlassFish so that they can fully unleash its power. It will teach them how to use the GlassFish application server, with a special focus on administration. This book also takes a careful look at the administration console in order to teach users the administrative features of GlassFish. Additionally, it provides a well-balanced mixture of concepts on administering the GlassFish Application Server.

With this book, readers will learn to manage the modules they need for the GlassFish server, using the GlassFish update tool and configure the web and EJB containers to support applications deployed to the GlassFish Server. Teaching readers to cluster multiple GlassFish server instances to improve throughput and availability, the book will also allow readers to plan and create a production-ready GlassFish Server deployment and thus, benefit from its improvement and growth.

An in-depth tutorial on administering the glassfish application server, this book is ideal for Java EE application developers, who build and deploy Java EE, Ruby on Rails, and other supported applications for the GlassFish Application Server. The book is out now and available from Packt. To read more about it, please visit www.packtpub.com/glassfish-v2-application-server-administration/book
