Relational databases in a nutshell
The idea of relational data conceived by E. F. Codd is based on a few simple principles. Firstly, data can be represented in sets called tables. A table consists of rows and columns. For example, if we wanted to create a database to be used by an online bookstore, the first table we might want to think about is one called books. The books table will contain columns that define the data within those columns – maybe something like this:
