Building a SharePoint Web Part
In the previous chapter, we detailed the requirements of a company called Packt, requesting you to build their product management solution within Microsoft 365. It is now time to implement the solution, leveraging all the SPFx features available to you. We start with the first requirement: “Viewing products as a catalog.”
In this chapter, we will review all the steps you need to create an SPFx web part from scratch. You will do the following:
- Learn how to build a web part from scratch and use the correct SPFx features to meet functional requirements
- Understand the web part development flow using React and SPFx-provided lifecycle methods
- Use Microsoft Graph to get real data from SharePoint lists
- Learn how to handle styles and support themes for your web part
- Learn how to localize your web part in accordance with users’ preferred language
- Create web part top actions to provide quick configuration for users...
