The previous chapter was a view of the database at the most granular level. In this chapter, we will zoom out to the overall view of the database and its place within the enterprise. DBAs must know how the multiple components interact and be able to trace the data flow between the different nodes that comprise an application. It doesn't matter whether you or your organization aren't strictly governed by a formalized Service Level Agreement.
