Chapter 6. Upgrading Formulas

Domino Designer 7 offers new features that enhance the @Formula language. Note, however, that using some of these features may present risks in preserving the functionality provided by existing applications. This chapter focuses on identifying and mitigating those risks.

Before you Begin: Devise a Backup Strategy

A good backup and recovery strategy should be fundamental to any upgrade campaign. Consider backing up the executable directory, the data directory, and any directory-linked folders. In short, consider backing up all your Domino-related files and data prior to your upgrade. This will allow you to restore your specific version of the Domino software, and preserve a copy of your NSF files in the ODS version you are upgrading from. This would be particularly important when upgrading from an R5.x version of the Domino software.
