In preview since 2017, the first version of ARCore was launched in February 2018 and was Google's platform for creating augmented reality applications for Android and iOS. It makes use of different capabilities, such as motion tracking, to estimate the position and orientation of the mobile device regarding the real world along with environmental location, to find and track horizontal surfaces such as the ground, tablets, or walls, and light estimation, to place 3D elements realistically into the real world.
