Summary
In this chapter, we learned how to use web services to perform geocoding and reverse geocoding. We also used web services to get large sets of publicly available information.
We used the math library to implement the haversine formula to compute distances between locations. We saw some sophisticated processing, encoding, and decoding techniques and used them to abbreviate grid locations.
We saw more techniques in data gathering using the BeautifulSoup HTML parser. We combined multiple web services to create really sophisticated applications that integrate geocoding and data analysis.
In the next chapter, we'll turn up the sensitivity by performing more sophisticated data analysis using deeper statistical techniques. We'll compute means, modes, and medians and look at correlations among data items.
