Scott MacKenzie has over 24 years of technical drawing experience. He always loved to draw in his early childhood and excelled in 3Dart projects in high school. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in metalwork and jewelry, at Northern Illinois University. After school he started working as a board draftsman for a consulting engineering firm. He learned the art and skill of drafting with ink on mylar. He was soon introduced to CAD (computer aided design) and became a regular CAD operator. He programmed his own custom AutoCAD commands and menus and became a CAD manager and network administrator.
After 12 years of creating and managing engineering drawings he moved over to the architectural side, to work for a well-known architectural firm (HOK) in Atlanta to be their CAD manager. He took that office out of 2D CAD and into the world of 3D CAD, and he later implemented their first Revit (BIM) project. He moved on to a different company that used ArchiCAD to help them with their biggest BIM project. Scott always enjoyed creating tutorials for his co-workers and sought to become a published writer. His first published article came out in 2007 for Cadalyst Magazine. He continued to write for Cadalyst and was asked by Graphisoft to update their book, ArchiCAD for AutoCAD Users. Scott is currently a BIM manager in Columbus, OH, for a large engineering and architecture firm.
