Using Firebase: Learn how and why to use Firebase

In this article by Manoj Waikar , author of the book Data-oriented Development with AngularJS , we will learn a brief description about various types of persistence mechanisms, local versus hosted databases, what Firebase is, why to use it, and different use cases where Firebase can be useful. We can write web applications by using the frameworks of our choice - be it server-side MVC frameworks, client-side MVC frameworks, or some combination of these. We can also use a persistence store (a database) of our choice - be it an RDBMS or a more modern NoSQL store. However, making our applications real time (meaning, if you are viewing a page and data related to that page gets updated, then the page should be updated or at least you should get a notification to refresh the page) is not a trivial task and we have to start thinking about push notifications and what not. This does not happen with Firebase.

Drupal 6 Performance Optimization Using Throttle and Devel Module

In this article by Trevor James and TJ Holowaychuk , authors of Drupal 6 Performance Tips , we're going to learn how to throttle modules and blocks on our site in order to increase performance and reduce server load during high traffic periods. We will use the Throttle module to do this. We'll also discuss the Devel module and how it can be used to generate dummy content, users, and taxonomy categories for our development site. This is actually the page that this articleis based around. Some settings on this page, however, depend on special system files or third-party tools that need to be installed. And these are the other things that we will discuss. You might expect to see detailed explanations for all the administration settings here, but instead, we will review in detail only a few of them, as I believe that the others do not need to be explained or can easily be tested. So generally, we will focus on hard-to-understand settings and thosesettings that need to be configured additionally in some special way or have some obscurities. So, why should you read this articleif you are not an administrator? Some features of Redmine are available only if they have been configured, so by reading this article, you will learn what extra features exist and get an idea of how to enable them. In this article, we will cover the following topics: The first thing to fix The general settings Authentication
