The Judges will be choosing from the five Mobile Toolkits and Libraries that received the most nominations, during the nomination stage. They will be selecting their top three based on a number of factors including performance, improvement over last 12 months, usability, size and support from community, cross-platform/handset support, ease of configuration and customization. The Judging panel is made up from a list of experienced and respected figures in the open source and Mobile Toolkits industry :
Bert Garcia
Bert Garcia is an IT veteran of 28 years, currently helping businesses and individuals discover the power of Open Source. His interest lies in "dynamic Web applications", specifically PHP based with the content stored in a MySQL database. He's contributed to various Open Source projects by working the user forums, building and maintaining community sites, writing documentation and beta testing.
Mark Hammonds
Mark Hammonds is a software engineer, author, and entrepreneur. He was among the first to beta the Apple iOS SDK, and was the lead developer of a Top 50 application in the iTunes App Store. He has also worked as a web engineer on highly trafficked web sites and enterprise class distributed computing applications. He is currently the managing site editor of Mobiletuts+ (http://mobile.tutsplus.com) and the President of a technology firm with an emphasis on R&D.
Arnoud van Susteren
In the late-nineties Arnoud worked for different companies, combining his designing and development skills, building and maintaining business websites and intranets. Around 2000 he switched from a creative to a more technical position. As software developer he took part in the design of payment systems and content management solutions.
Today Arnoud is self-employed. With his company UpService (The Netherlands, Amsterdamarea), he focuses on "Mobile" websites and open source software development.
Roberto Galoppini
Roberto is a computer industry insider of 20 years standing. Up until 1994 Roberto had never heard of Linux, until he chanced to lead a group of geeks in starting up a mobile ISP with just a bunch of old PCs. Since then Roberto has worked in such hands-on roles as programmer and systems analyst, eventually founding an open source firm in 2001, and an open source consortium in 2004.
Roberto has taken an active interest in several free/open source software organizations, researched the economics of OSS and serves on some advisory boards.
For living Roberto consults to companies from all over the world to design and implement their open source strategies, focusing on commercial and strategic development. Roberto among his customers counts GroundWork, IBM, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle, Poste Italiane, Red Hat, Telecom Italia, Xwiki and Zenoss.
